How to nock your arrow?

Why should the feather with different color at the tail of the arrow face you when you are nocking the arrow?

When shooting for the first time, the coach always tells them to point the feathers with different colors at the tail of the arrow towards themselves. Why is that?

What is the main arrow feather?

The feather with different color is the primary feather. The primary feather will be distinguished from other feathers by a single color. The other feathers are called auxiliary feathers.

The feather that is perpendicular to the bowstring among the three feathers is usually different in color from the other two feathers.
· Why should the primary feather face you?

When the primary feather faces the outside of the bow handle, the friction between the arrow and the bow can be minimized during the shooting process, such as the arrow rest, so that the range trajectory can be ensured to be unaffected. When the primary feather faces the outside, the other two feathers will not touch the bow body, thereby increasing the accuracy of archery.
