Many new friends ignore the importance of this. They buy a good bow, but they just put the arrows on it casually, thinking that it can be used. In fact, it is not the case. The arrow must match the bow, so we need to test it manually.
1 Confirm the draw length
Currently, the way each merchant calculates the draw length is basically divided by the arm span length by 2.5. The data calculated by this formula is actually wrong. You must know that each bow will have different draw lengths due to your posture, bow opening action, bow holding method, and strength. For example, you can draw 28 inches with a 30-pound bow, but a 45-pound bow may become 27 or even 26 inches. The most practical side draw method is to first practice the posture and action with a light bow, and then take the bow you play (the poundage has been confirmed). When the bow is opened, let your friends help you mark the arrow next to you. The data on the side is your actual draw length.
2 Confirm the arrow length
Why do you need to confirm the arrow length? It is to change the value when matching the disturbance with the bow later. Generally, the draw length plus 1.5 inches to 2.5 inches is your arrow length. For example, if your draw length is 27.5 inches, the arrow length is about 29 inches to 30 inches. The extra inch is your fine-tuning budget.
3 Grains per pound (GPP)
Generally speaking, a lower GPP parabola will be smaller, but it may cause the arrow to be released in mid-air, causing irreversible damage to the bow. When the GPP is too high, although the energy absorption effect is good, the parabola is too obvious and it is not easy to aim.
When the GPP is between 8 and 9, you will get a more satisfactory arrow speed and a smaller parabola;
When the GPP is between 10 and 11, you will get a more stable flight trajectory, provided that it is within 30 meters;
4 The impact of GPP
The smaller the GPP value, the faster the arrow speed will be. High arrow speed will bring a very beautiful sound of breaking through the air, but the tolerance will also be very low, that is, the stability will be reduced. A high GPP value is often accompanied by a higher degree of tolerance. For novices, it is easy to achieve satisfactory results. How to choose this value is something you must think clearly before buying arrows.
