Avar bow The Avars were a branch of the Rouran people. Some say they were vassals of the Rouran people. After the Rouran people were defeated, they came to Hungary.
Originated from the Central Asian steppes, their bows have similar characteristics to the Xiongnu bows, with straight handles, no recurve on the bow arms, and the bow tip slightly tilted outward after the string is stretched. The biggest feature is that the top of the bow tip is flat and large, the tip is generally round, the tip is medium in length, and the position of the string buckle is relatively close to the top of the bow tip.
Characteristics of Hungarian bows: inward-bending handles, no or slight recurve on the bow arms, very long tips, and the position of the string buckle at the tip is widened, and the string buckle is far from the top of the bow tip.
Characteristics of Roman bows: inward-bending handles, no recurve on the bow arms and bending inward, medium-length tips, and the shape of the tips is similar to the Han long tips, but much shorter. The overall bow shape is like a short-tip version of the Han long tips.
